SLOW MAN by J.M.Coetzee
Paul Rayment is a man who likes to live on his own and get around town by himself on his trusty bicycle. That all changes one day when someone hit him while he is riding and he loses a leg. After the accident he is assigned a nurse, Marijana (who's name caused my much grief as it slowed me down every time I read it, trying NOT to say Marijuana in my head)who brings new meaning to Paul's life and helps him learn to live and love again.

Coetzee also adds a character from one of his other novels, Elizabeth Costello, who plays a vital role in Paul's rebirth.

I had read SLOW MAN before and I have to admit that I liked it better the second time through. This is actually a sort of 'coming of age' story for those of us no longer in out teens. It proves that even those who are very stuck in their ways, can change even when life is at least 1/2 over.

All of the other books I have read are not on 'the list' and can be found on my other blog. I think I become a sort of slow woman during the summer, what with the heat and all, but I am going to head towards air-conditioned environments so that I can get back into my reading.

This brings me to:

25 books read
976 to go!

Until next time, Good Night and Good Reading!
